As part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness and empower community members, and within the framework of “Girls’ Empowerment” Project in Shatila and Boroj Al-Barajneh camps, the Protection team at Basmeh & Zeitooneh organized a conference attended by nurses, pharmacists, and midwives. This event aimed to introduce the work of the Protection Program and clarify how participants, through their professional roles, can safely and confidentially handle sensitive cases and refer them to specialized organizations and to Basmeh & Zeitooneh’s team.

Over three continuous hours, specialists, trainers, and social workers from the Protection Department delivered introductory and awareness sessions. These covered an overview of the Protection Program, the Girls’ and Women’s Empowerment Project, psychosocial support sessions and their importance, reproductive and sexual health, the concept of protection and proper referral mechanisms, as well as the management of gender-based violence cases.

The sessions combined theoretical presentations with interactive activities that were well received by participants. Attendees shared their ideas and experiences with the team and asked questions in a safe, supportive space designed for exchanging knowledge and building essential skills.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants emphasized the importance of expanding such awareness sessions, given their significant impact on marginalized communities, and highlighted their role in supporting their work and enabling them to handle various protection cases safely and confidentially.
