Shatila Learning Center

Bekaa Learning Center
Livelihood Office:
The Bekaa Community Center includes a Livelihood Office that focuses on supporting local agriculture and small business owners. Under this department:
- Agricultural Support: The center assists farmers with small-scale lands by providing tools and cash assistance to help them with their agricultural activities.
- Small Business Support: The center supports small business owners, particularly women who own businesses in food processing. These entrepreneurs are selected to participate in livelihood projects, receiving Cash-for-Work (CFW) to help with various processes.
- Community Projects: The center collaborates with the municipality to clean irrigation channels and water drainage systems, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
- Participants: Both Lebanese and Syrian individuals participate in these programs, promoting inclusivity and community cohesion.
Learning Center:
The Learning Center in Bekaa has been operating since 2018, addressing the educational and social needs of the local community. It is divided into three main components:
- Early Childhood Education (ECE): Providing foundational education for young children.
- Basic Literacy and Numeracy (BLN): Offering remedial support to enhance literacy and numeracy skills.
- Life Skills (LS): Equipping students with essential life skills to navigate daily challenges.
In addition to these educational components, the Learning Center includes a Protection Department that provides:
- Case Management: Assisting students with any referral cases and ensuring their well-being.
- Nursing Services: Providing medical assistance in case of injuries.
- Social Work: Offering psychosocial support (PSS) to parents and students on various topics, ensuring holistic support for the community.
To date, the Learning Center has served a significant number of students, contributing to their education and personal development, and depending on the funds.
Emergency Response:
Basmeh and Zeitooneh (B&Z) also plays a crucial role in emergency response, providing quick and effective support to individuals affected by crises. B&Z’s emergency efforts include:
- Crisis Response: B&Z is known for their rapid response to crises, ensuring that they are beside the people who have been affected. They provided essential support during the last war and continue to assist during winterization efforts.
- Winterization Assistance: B&Z helps the most affected individuals in Bekaa during the winter months, providing necessary supplies and support to ensure their well-being.

The name of B&Z in Bekaa has garnered a very positive reputation, especially after the recent war. The community has come to trust our work and transparency, appreciating the timely and effective support we provide. This trust has strengthened our position in the community and reinforced our commitment to serving those in need.
