Lebanon’s agricultural sector is facing mounting pressure as ongoing conflict, displacement, and environmental damage continue to disrupt production and rural livelihoods. Beyond immediate destruction, the crisis is accelerating land abandonment, weakening food systems, and deepening economic insecurity in communities heavily dependent on agriculture.
This brief examines how repeated escalations since 2024 – and the intensification in 2026 – are reshaping the future of agriculture in Lebanon. From damaged farmland and disrupted supply chains to environmental contamination concerns and barriers to return, the report highlights the cumulative impacts on food security, local economies, and community resilience.
