Women’s Workshop
The Women’s Workshop provided opportunities for economic empowerment to women living in difficult financial circumstances. The members of the workshop got trained in embroidery, before starting to produce pieces such as scarves, bags and cushion covers. These items were sold through Basmeh and Zeitooneh’s selling channels, and the women made an income from each piece they produced. The program operated alongside the Protection department, giving the women direct access to psychosocial support, awareness sessions and counselling beside their regular shifts in the workshop.
In March 2015, Caritas International and the Fidel Gotz Foundation awarded the Workshop the Women Sowers of Development Prize for its role in empowering Syrian female refugees.
